Yakusugi Bracelet

Seikundou

Regular price $55.00

A bracelet made of Yakusugi ( Yakushima Ceder specifically grown in the ancient forest of Yakushima island for over a thousand years ).

Since most of the forest area in the island was registered as World Heritage in 1993, the nature there has been strictly observed and well-conserved, that includes the prohibition against cutting or damaging the local trees.

Therefore, these bracelets are made of the branches of Yakusugi which naturally fell down from those trees to the ground, which result in quite special and precious.

Because of its long age, considered as one thousand years or more, it is also known as the symbol of health and long life.

This bracelet consists of 108 pieces of wood, which is known as the number of worldly self-centered desires that human-beings are believed to have in buddhism.

With the subtle natural fragrance of cedar, you will be amazed how thinly their growth rings were extended over a millennium.

Prepared by a traditional rosary store in Kyoto.

Wrist size: approx. 20 cm for double-stranded style (40 cm for a single strand)
